
Namibia (Secure the Future)



Pedals for Progress, in partnership with Bristol Myers Squibb Company's
"Secure the Future" Program, has once again established a working
program
in Namibia, Africa. Secure the Future is the $100 million commitment by
Bristol Myers Squibb to assist women and children infected with and/or
affected by HIV/AIDS in Southern Africa. Grants awarded will fund medical
research, community outreach, education programs, and will provide education
and training for medical professionals. Secure the Future has committed
to
provide a grant for the delivery of 3,000 bicycles over the coming year
to
to non-profit community development programs in five southern African
countries: South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho, and Swaziland.
Pedals for Progress will identify and select qualifying programs which must
be
working in communities afflicted with HIV/AIDS epidemic in southern Africa
and will help to address health and employment needs of these vulnerable
populations.
